WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS IN GULYTE?

The raw ingredient for GULYTE is sugarcane extract, which is then used to derive High Intensity Sucrose and High Intensity Sucralose. These are fused together to form a highly stable compound - GULYTE.

Only a very small quantity of Sucralose is used. GULYTE's granulated form comprises at least 99% Sucrose and a maximum of 1% Sucralose. This gives GULYTE a higher sweetness intensity than sugar, but retains all the qualities of sugar, making it very versatile.

WHY IS GULYTE BETTER THAN OTHER SWEETENERS?

The main advantage GULYTE has over any other sweetener in the market, natural or otherwise, is that GULYTE retains ALL the attributes of sugar because it is made of at least 99% Sucrose and not more than 1% sucralose.

Monk Fruit Extract requires bulking agents such as Soluble Fiber, Beta Glucan and Polydextrose to imitate the texture of sugar. It is usually mixed with other artificial sweeteners, such as Fructose, Glucose, Lactose maltodextrin and even Acesulfame potassium and aspartame (petrochemical-based sweeteners).

While Monk Fruit Extract Sweetener has 0 Calories and 0 Glycemic Index by itself, it may not be so anymore after combining with all the additives. It also has a bitter aftertaste.

Allulose (Rare Sugar) is very new and hasn't gone through long-term clinical trials. Also may not be in the food codex in countries. Besides, it's made from corn with enzymatic hydrolysis process. Common source of corn is usually GMO from US. And that's one of the worries.

Allulose requires bulking agents such as Soluble Fiber, Beta Glucan and Polydextrose to imitate the texture of sugar. It is usually mixed with other artificial sweeteners such as Fructose, Glucose, Lactose maltodextrin, and even Acesulfame potassium and aspartame (petrochemical-based sweeteners). Stevia requires bulking agents such as Soluble Fiber, Beta Glucan and Polydextrose to imitate the texture of sugar. HOW DOES GULYTE COMPARE TO CRYSTALLINE FRUCTOSE, ANOTHER HIGH INTENSITY SWEETENER?

Crystalline fructose is 100% fructose. For the same level of sweetness as sugar, Crystalline Fructose reduces Calories and Gylcemic Index by only about 20-25%. As such, it is still a significant source of empty calories and can cause weight gain. the American Heart Association recommends limiting the amount you consume.

Fructose also has the potential to boost blood lipids such as triglycerides, so the American Diabetes Association does not recommend fructose as a sweetener for people with diabetes.

WHAT IS BUILT-IN FLAVOUR CARRYING FUNCTIONALITY (FCF)?

Besides giving a sweet taste, sugar also functions to transport food flavours to our tongue. Salt and fat also has this flavour carrying function, which is why foods without salt, sugar or fat taste bland.

Through our proprietary process, GULYTE retains most of sugar's favour-carrying feature. This is a unique feature of GULYTE and no other sweetener in the market has this capability.

WHAT IS THE SWEETNESS LEVEL OF GULYTE PRODUCTS?

GULYTE Granules:
Approximately 5 times sweeter than normal sugar. As such, 20g of GULYTE Granules is enough to replace 100g of normal sugar - an 80% reduction in calories.

GULYTE Dash:
3 dash (0.03ml) of this zero-calorie solution provides the same sweetness as 8g of normal sugar.

GULYTE Syrup:
Approximately 3.5 times sweeter than normal sugar. As such, 30g of GULYTE Syrup is enough to replace 100gm of normal sugar to get the same sweetness - approximately 70% reduction in calories.

WHAT IS THE CALORIC VALUE OF GULYTE PRODUCTS?

GULYTE Granules:
4kcal per 1g serving. Sweetness is equivalent to 5g (20kcal) of normal sugar.

GULYTE Dash:
0kcal for 3 taps per serving. Sweetness is equivalent to 8g (32kcal) of normal sugar.

GULYTE Syrup:
5kcal per 1.5g serving. Sweetness is equivalent to 5g (20kcal) of normal sugar.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE SUCROSE AND SUCRALOSE WHEN IT PASSES THROUGH THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM?

GULYTE Granules comprises 2 ingredients: Sucrose and Sucralose. When ingested, Sucralose
passes through the digestive system and is excreted undigested and unchanged. The Sucrose is digested as normal sugar.

However, since GULYTE Granules provides the same taste and sweetness as sugar at only 1/5 portion or even 1/40 portion of normal sugar, the actual Sucrose intake is reduced by 80% or even 97%.

HOW DOES GULYTE AFFECT BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS AND INSULIN SECRETION COMPARED TO SUGAR?

The levels of insulin secretion and blood sugar depends on the Glycemic Load (GL) presented by foods containing sugar. Glycemic Load of 1-10 is rated Low (diabetic-friendly), 11-19 is rated Moderate, and 20 and above is rated High.

a) Glycemic Load of GULYTE Syrup:

GULYTE Dash has ZERO Glyemic Load as it contains no sugar.

Glycemic load is calculated as Glycemic Index x gm of carbohydrate / 100.

b) Glycemic Load of GULYTE Granules:

For 10g of GULYTE Granules:
(65 sucrose + 0 sucralose) x10 / 100 = 6.5 GL

For 50g of normal sugar:
65 x 50 / 100 = 32.5

This means, for the same level of sweetness, GULYTE Granules is rated “diabetic-friendly”.

c) Glycemic Load of GULYTE Syrup:

For 15g of GULYTE Syrup:
(35 maltitose + 0 sucralose) x15 / 100 = 5.25

For 50g of normal sugar:
65 x 50/ 100 = 32.5

This means, for the same level of sweetness, GULYTE Syrup is rated “diabetic-friendly”.

WHAT ARE THE SUITABLE APPLICATIONS FOR GULYTE?

There is no hard and fast rule regarding application. Generally, GULYTE products can replace sugar completely or partially in any food or beverage preparation. Its ease of use makes GULYTE a popular sugar replacement even for cooking, brewing and baking.

It would take some trial and error to find the best proportion of a GULYTE product or a combination of GULYTE products to give the best results. Besides sweetness, other factors like mass, viscosity and texture need to be considered when adapting a recipe to GULYTE products.

HOW IS GULYTE DASH USED?

GULYTE Dash replaces sugar as a Zero calorie option. Two dash of GULYTE Dash will replace one teaspoon of ordinary sugar. It can be used in drinks or cooking.

GULYTE Dash may be more suitable for consumer use than for manufacturers as other ingredients may need to be increased to make up for the loss of volume or texture provided by sugar.

HOW IS GULYTE SYRUP USED?

GULYTE Syrup provides a similar mouthfeel and texture as sugar syrups, but has highly reduced calories. It can be used in place of ordinary syrups in everyday food. It is also suitable for manufacturers who use corn syrup in their processes.

HOW IS GULYTE GRANULES USED?

GULYTE Granules is a low-calorie alternative to sugar. 1/5 teaspoon of GULYTE Granules is enough to replace a teaspoon of ordinary sugar in drinks and other foods. This is usually used in manufacturing to replace granulated sugar as it provides some volume to the product.

HOW IS THE SUCRALOSE IN GULYTE PRODUCTS DIFFERENT FROM OTHER SUCRALOSE-BASED SWEETENERS?

The Sucralose used in GULYTE Products is similar in the food codex. But the difference lies in its functionality.

The High Intensity Sucralose in GULYTE products is not only used for its sweetness intensity, but also as a Flavour Carrying Functionality (FCF). This function is NOT found in normal Sucralose.

The sweetness intensity is also tuned much lower than the normal 600x of normal Sucralose found in the market. This makes GULYTE products much more adaptable and reduces the aftertaste of normal Sucralose.

IS COMBINING SUCROLASE WITH SUCROSE THE SAME AS SUGAR BLENDING?

There is a huge difference between sugar blending and our technology.

Sugar blending or sugar coating simply mixes sucrose and sucralose together to coat the sucrose granules with sucrolase. This is not a stable mixture as the two elements will separate during manufacturing (from vibrations due to industrial mixing ) or when mixed with other food ingredients. This causes problems uneven sweetness from batch to batch of products.

GULYTE Granules fuses the Sucralose to the Sucrose structure permanently through our unique process. Even when GULYTE Granules is ground to a very fine powder, it still consistently retains its sweetness level. This feature is very important for industries, as uniformity in taste is essential.
